ORIGIN And what we think about it.

"Only wine allows man to understand the true taste of the land."
– Colette

The French author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette wrote these words as early as 1932 in her work Prisons et Paradis. It is a thought that has accompanied us for years, capturing the very essence of our pursuit with beautiful accuracy.

To us, origin is nothing abstract. It is concrete. Tangible. Tasteable.

In the Welzbach Valley, contrasting soils and microclimates converge in a remarkably small space. Limestone, ironstone, clay – every single parcel possesses its own distinct character. Our calling is to not smooth over these differences, but to carve them out. As precisely as possible. As pure as possible.

The definitive place where this happens is the vineyard.

What is perceived later in the glass is born here. Balance is the ultimate key: The delicate interplay of soil and vine, growth and yield, ripeness and freshness. Only when this harmony is perfect do the vines yield grapes that are more than just healthy – grapes that convey their origin.

To achieve this requires genetics. Organic viticulture. Living soils. And above all, intuition – knowing exactly when to intervene and when to step back.

In the end, it is not about imposing a style. It is about reading the land. About listening.

Great wines do not explain themselves; they simply reveal themselves. Quietly. Yet impossible to ignore.
